Hello Everyone!

This week quickly went off the rails after our entire house came down with a particularly vicious cold. These forecasts, however, are one of the few things I’m able to muster my self-discipline for, so I couldn’t just leave us all out in the cold without some tarot guidance!

Let’s just draw a single card to guide us through the week, shall we?

Ooh! What fun! I could really use some fun, couldn’t you? We had a card jump out of the deck just now, and it’s a beautiful one: The Star.

We haven’t seen this one for quite some time; it’s been a Major Arcana-heavy time, though, that’s to be sure - intense (dare I say overbearing?) archetypes like The Hierophant, The Chariot, and Strength have been visiting us with their themes of self-direction, willpower, and tradition. Today, however, we’re being asked to dip our toes into the pools of healing that dot our lives. Where do you find peace, respite, and spiritual/creative sustenance in your life?

Now this could point us towards outer sources of affirmation and rejuvenation, but The Star doesn’t want us to go that route. Instead, we’re invited to strip back the layers of distraction, seeking, and performance and journey inwards. Yes, this is an instance of the beautiful and/or frustrating message that we have all the tools for healing that we need. In this spirit, take a moment to visit all the paths you’ve been going down that lead you outwards: relationships with other people, exciting activities, projects and plans. Look on them kindly and with appreciation and then put them away. Now take a nice gander at The Star and see what it brings up for you.

One thing I love about this card is that it shows the beauty and calm available to us at all times. This is not to say that getting to this place is easy. In fact, The Star appears after one of the most disturbing sequences in the tarot deck: cards number 15 & 16 are The Devil and The Tower. It isn’t until we venture through/survive these experiences that we arrive at the calm beauty of numner 17, The Star.

In what ways have you been experiencing or digesting something difficult recently? This week is giving us an opportunity to step away from the rubble and mark a new chapter of integration. It may take some time for the intensity to subside; The Star is the space we give ourselves to heal and regroup. Do everything you can this week to make a soft landing for yourself - what practices bring you back into your body (you’ll notice this is front and center here with this gloriously nude person) and allow your emotions to flow freely? Treat these with the utmost importance and some transformative rest and even breakthroughs may arrive.

Doing nothing, letting go, spiritually rehydrating yourself… all of these are beautiful practices regardless of whatever outcomes they usher in. And there’s something uniquely touching and surprisingly formidable to be found in the leaps and bounds we’ve made in our personal healing and transformation. See where you’re letting yourself be squishy, vulnerable, and also undeniably aligned with your true self. Having this be the outcome of the intense journey through The Devil & The Tower is quite impressive. Not letting hardship harden you is a huge accomplishment. Now take a nice journey to your own North Star and let its light reveal the full extent of this recent, splendid transformation.
