Hello lovely readers,
It’s been a few weeks since I wrote a “Tarot Tidbits” post, but rest assured I’ve been collecting all sorts of things to share with you.
When The World’s new perspective involves… lots of covid tests? A few weeks ago we had a really exciting reading involving The World. In a classic moment of tarot slapping you in the face, however, my personal experience wasn’t a revelation of the enjoyable kind: Our family got sick and spent about five days under the weather. We were fortunate not to get too sick, but I was cursing/laughing at the reading while lying in bed. Technically the reading was spot-on - I certainly did have a new outlook on my life after getting laid low, and it did lead to some important revelations about future plans, not to mention plenty of time to think - but lord how I wished it wasn’t in such an unpleasant form. I’m sure many of you can relate to this; how personal readings can manifest in trickily spot-on ways that completely avoid the outcome you’d actually enjoy.
Enjoying new decks. I think it’s time to…get a new deck? I’ve sat on my hands for several years after getting way too enthused on deck collecting when reading tarot full-time. You may have noticed that I’m a RWS aficionado - almost all of my readings here and on the blog involve some version of the deck. But I did take out my beloved Kitty Kahane tarot (sadly out of print) for last week’s reading, and it made me itch for something new. I’ve had my eyes on this collaged deck and this cutie as well, and now that I’m getting back into full tarot nerd research mode, a copy of the Sola Busca.
Ten of Pentacles IRL. I’ve been sneaking in a few episodes of TV when I have the time and am finishing the last season of Better Things, a show I love for its depiction of parenthood, cooking, friendship, and work. A full life fully realized on TV, without omitting all the things our culture tends to label as behind the scenes or irrelevant - delightful! The little things are the biggest things are the… better things? (I’ll show myself out.) Either way, the whole show reminds me so much of the busy, meaningful glory of the Ten of Pentacles. Life overflowing with life; beautiful, mundane, and spiritual.
