How was last week for everyone? The Moon was our central card and phew, did that end up coming through in some intense ways over here! We lost power for almost two days and my routine got thrown into chaos. Personally speaking, I had some serious contending to do with our final card, the twisty Seven of Swords. So if last week left us feeling shook up and fighting not to make permanent declarations about ourselves, what does this week bring?
Now, as a tarot reader, I have to admit that I am hugely fond of our first card, The High Priestess. (The High Priestess is to tarot readers as horses are to horse girls; if you know, you know!) But I’m also esepcially fond of it specifically in the context of last week’s spread. Where The Moon was confusing and destabilizing, The High Priestess is serene and collected. This speaks, I think, so our ability to navigate through the chaos of the past few days with relative success. Okay, I’m being overly-modest. The High Priestess is a big deal. In what ways have you been proving to yourself your ability to move through difficulty and find wisdom in the midst of uncertainty? Take a moment to uplift your commitment to staying present for yourself and creating a rewarding life. As The Moon’s tidal influence recedes, sit securely on this new shore and celebrate yourself.
These times have been asking a lot of us and it’s making me see The High Priestess as a call towards uncovering the essential. This mirrors The Hermit, our card for January, which asks us to remove distraction in order to reorient ourselves towards what really matters. Numerologically speaking, we’re moving in the direction of sim-licity, from nine (The Hermit) to two (The High Priestess). How has simplifying been helping you this month? This week may feature a coming home to ourselves, a moment of understanding. Look back to the beginning of the month to see if some of the questions you were carrying with you have received answers. What feels secure, even starkly evident, that was once confusing of out of reach?
A shadow side of The High Priestess is getting “high on your own spiritual supply.” Wisdom is powerful, but ultimately meaningless if we don’t do anything with it. Thankfully, this week plants us firmly in the realm of the real. Two pentacles cards, the suit of earth, inspire us to make something out of all the meaning we’ve been uncovering. The Queen of Pentacles introduces this energy mid-week as we’re able to step out of the shadows of The High Priestess and into the details of our daily life. I won’t be coy; I love this. Entering this space under a Queen card also shows a sense of ease, as if we’ve been waiting for this moment. Don’t fight what comes naturally, even if it’s surprising.
The solitary journey of The Hermit and the solitary wisdom of The High Priestess enters the collective at the end of the week. The Three of Pentacles shows us joining forces with others, joyfully and with a healthy dose of excitement and inspiration. Share what you’ve learned with others, start projects together, and find ways to tranform your personal realizaitons into works that serve the greater good. This is a significant change in energy, so be gentle with yourself, try to find a way to commemorate your personal journey, and welcome in the vibrant camraderie of your connections.
